Your videocard

Which brand of videocard you use on your main WoW computer?

Melissamao 04-25-2007 03:46 AM

well Nvidia on my desktop... I think my laptop is running an ATI

TM 04-25-2007 06:29 AM

I'm the opposite of Mao. ATI where I had the choice, nVidia where it was builtin. :p

Tirrex 04-25-2007 07:05 AM

I don't know why, but for some reason I think this thread will end in a holy war between ATI'ers and nVidia'ers lol

Jonclani 04-25-2007 07:22 AM

Well, technically I have ATI on my top computer, and ATI on my secondary. Then nVidia on my tertiary and my laptop. Then my spare card is an nVidia, but thats only a geForce3, and not really useable. Then I have an assortment of voodoo3's that I use to pretty much exclusively to power the second/third monitor in my setup, or to troubleshoot. I find that the old voodoos work perfectly for this as 1) they are cheap as hell, 2) 2d processing pretty much maxxed out in the voodoo3 days, and 3) they never have any driver issues at all.

Were I to upgrade today, I would go top end nVidia if I wasnt on a budget, but well, knowing my finances, I'd probably end up going mid-tier ATI

Vero 04-25-2007 08:41 AM

new top end ati > nvidia top end :P

its a never ending race that flip flops..i stick by ati cause they almost gave me a job :P

TM 04-25-2007 09:01 AM

I'm only "pro" ATI due to the fact that I've had less long term issues with them... kinda why I'm still old-school Intel. AMD used to be a cheap bitch-ass chip back when I was building systems in my computer tech days. Granted, they've come a long ways... but still. (Oh, and they bought ATI... lol - which I find funny, because my laptop has an AMD chip and a nVidia card and desktop is Intel w/ ATI)

Melissamao 04-25-2007 12:54 PM

lol tm generally I find that ppl that go for intel chips like the ATI cards while the ppl that spring for the nVidias like the AMD processers... kinda weird but meh what ever

Vero 04-25-2007 03:10 PM

i are amd ati whore :P

TM 04-25-2007 03:22 PM

I know Mao... that's why it's funny. AMD owns ATI now.

Tirrex 04-25-2007 03:39 PM

Does ATI even have a card that supports DirectX 10?

Thesuperman 04-25-2007 03:44 PM

I have SLI in my laptop. 2 256mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS.
I've always used NVIDIA and never had any real problems with them.

Coronalight 04-25-2007 09:12 PM

I have a case with 4 3 inch fans plus the power units fan. Matched with the massive heatsink/fan for the cpu and my vid cards fan i've never come close to overheating.
