Lower Latency

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyVX4ARBMkM

This trick works for everyone, and I do mean everyone. It works in EVERY game as well!

It will lower your latency no matter what unless you have a real connection problem, like 5000ms ping... At which point it may give you 4300ms ping.

When I tested it, I dropped from 140ms ping, to now 43ms avg. woot! =)

No it's not rick rolled you ding bags. :p

Almma 05-14-2008 09:09 AM

Dropped my MS by over 100... holy shit.

Tirrex 05-14-2008 06:15 PM

Does this works on Vista? I tried, nothing happened.

Smallape 05-14-2008 06:57 PM

Yes, there is a method that works for vista, I'll need to find that link...

EDIT: You just have to restart your computer, as apposed to restarting the connection. :p

There is a hotfix to download for Vista users, but that's ONLY if you don't have/want Service Pack 1. I'll provide that only if someone actually is not using SP1.

Tirrex 05-15-2008 07:53 AM

I'm not sure if I got SP1. Pressing Windows key + Pause I see: Windows Vista Home Premium. Copyright bla bla bla... Thats all. My Vista is original btw. Any way I could see if it has SP1?

PS: I did disable/re-enable my network card, I also reset the PC, I've also tried to kill the bridge I had between my 2 network cards, I tried removing the router too. Didn't notice any change. I feel like that cat on your avatar...

You may be screwed:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935458/en-us

Symptoms
On a computer that is running Windows Vista, you modify the TcpAckFrequency registry entry by following the steps that are described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 328890. However, the behavior of TCP acknowledgments (ACKs) does not change.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Keep me updated on this, art...

Artalis 05-15-2008 10:17 AM

I'm on a boring conference call right now, so I figured I would do a little research. I found this:

http://mattgadient.com/2007/12/13/kb...packfrequency/

The site has a link to a hotfix for Vista.

SHIT! It was a virus! It freaking formatted my computer and I lost everything!!! Just kidding... I'll try it tonight. Its asking to restart and I can't restart now.

Smallape 05-15-2008 08:52 PM

SP1 info is under control panel then system. If you don't have it than yes, that would be the solution.

EDIT: wow cool, thanks for windows+pause hotkey! lol
Now get me one for device manager and one for network connections. >: )

Great find man.....I did this just a few minutes ago...restarted comp and jumped from 366ms pre-fix to 86ms after fix!

BeerTorque 07-07-2008 01:10 PM

I can't watch the video right now, but I am guessing this fix is dependent on what software you're using. In Counterstrike I always have between 15ms(!!!) and maybe 60ms max, but always 130+ in WOW. I expect either the network WOW uses has something that causes the problem, or the game itself (perhaps among other games as well with same netcode design).

and the video was deleted. :(
