As you can see I am setting up some ranks and etc. for the vent.

How To Unmute A Lower Ranked Person In Ventrilo.

If a user has a "N" next to their name it means they have entered a channel beyond their permission. They can hear what the people in the channel are saying, but cannot respond themselves. In order to remove their mute. You must go to Channel Admin and uncheck the Mute next to them while they are highlighted. Only members of veteran or higher should have the permission to do this.

How To Access the User Editor.

In order to assign ranks to other guild members or to add another member to the ventrilo data base, you must enter the User Editor via the Server Admin tab. Only Officers or higher should have access to this ability.

User Editor And How To Use It.

This is the interface you will get when you open up the User Editor.

I've highlighted a few things to help with the explanation of this.

Adding a New User

The first step to adding a new user is clicking the "New" button highlighted here in violet. This will give you a default clear prompt. The first thing you are going to want to do is upload a profile. The yellow highlighted area here shows you a drop down menu. You want to load a Generic User setting for all new members. Next give them their desired Login Name this will be the name they enter under. The Login Name can be typed in the field highlighted here in red. You can enter any Password you want so just be sure to tell them of it so they can log in under it. I suggest you do not leave it blank so that people can't log in under their name and spam vent.

Finally you want to set their rank. This drop down menu is highlighted in green. Members get Member and Pledges get the rank Pledge, respectively. Finally, and most importantly, click the Add button highlighted in blue otherwise all the information you have logged will be lost.

If you are changing anything after this fact or adjusting the setting on another user, you will use the Update button instead of Add. Make sure you click Update at the end of each session of User Editor just to make sure your settings are saved.

01SEP09: BROTHERHOOD RAIDING channel is now open to guests! They will automatically be muted upon entering though. A veteran or higher will be required to unmute them.

You might also have to go into your own profile on the user editor and give yourself permission to edit ranks if you want to add people. It's not automatically given with admin, but as an admin you can give it to yourself.
