I'm not being directly affected by the crisis. I can't find a single thing thats now more expensive for me or thats no longer available. I don't know anyone thats been layed off either. But I am buying a lot of stocks from industries I'm sure will never fail (minerals, steel, porn...).

I work at GameStop and Video Game sales are the only thing that's up. And I live in an upper middle class white neighborhood, so I have yet to see this "Financial Crisis" everyone claims is happening.

I have 2 Jobs and so far, ive only seen the effects from one. My good job, CCI Telecom (which is a independant Sprint company) has cut everyone's pay by 10% and is holding the cuts until at least March. If March comes around and things havent improved, people will be laid off. As for GameStop (which I work at once a month to keep benefits and discounts) is out the roof. Game sales like Morlaw said, are going way up. It kinda makes me angry because after working for GameStop, I hate them with a passion. They are a greedy corporation that treats their employees (even their managers) like shit.

yeah gamestop has been packed through all of this, but developers arent so recession proof, EA just laid off like 1000 and Midway is going under.

I also know a ton of people who've been laid off and my industry is scared because advertising has taken a huge hit.

It's actually severely affected my current employer. Most of our income comes from educating the employees of big companies on how to work with their data warehouses and what not. A lot of these companies, due to the recession, have cut back on their budgets and one of the first things to always go is education. So, even though I'm still currently employed, I would not be shocked if sometime in the near future I find myself looking for a new job.
