Phish is reuniting!

I rarely talk about this part of my past, but Phish was one of the most significant influences in my life for years. Their 2004 breakup was one of the most depressing times in my life, and to this day I haven't been able to listen to much Phish without being overwhelmed with emotion. That being said, the world of music has shifted one more time, and Phish has announced 3 shows in March of 2009, playing at the Hampton Coliseum on the 6th, 7th, and 8th. The last time I saw the band was in this same venue, the month they were finally calling it quits. I can't begin to describe the pure excitement and adrenaline pumping through me right now, but this marks one of my happiest days in a long time. Finally the music that expanded my mind and stimulated all my senses will be there to experience anew. Long live Phish!

I've seen Hootie and the Blowfish live as well. They're from Columbia, a town I lived in for about 8 years, even though I now reject it's existence. It's hard to imagine, but

used to be what I spent the majority of my time doing. I used to listen to at least 2 full concerts a day, and spent at least as much time on their message boards and trading shows with people. I've seen them live 10 times( a relatively small number considering I've seen bands like Umphrey's McGee on over 20 occasions), but every show holds some amazing memories. I don't think I'll ever be able to really explain how much one silly little band meant to my life, but they changed my life more than anything else I've experienced. And yes, Phish's break-up was one of the few things in life that made me cry, and their announcement for these shows in March came pretty darn close to bringing me to tears again.
